Video Chat on Instagram ‘MESSENGER ROOMS’ with up to 50 People!

Instagram has recently announced the integration of Facebook Messenger Rooms feature on its platform which would let Instagram users video call up to 50 people at once.

The company announced this from its official Twitter handle stating-

“An easy way to video chat with up to 50 of your favorite people? Yes please. Starting today, you can create @messenger Rooms on Instagram and invite anyone to join.”

As clear from the Tweet, the feature is based on integration with Facebook’s Messenger rooms following which users on Instagram could launch the video call (with up to 50 people) within the main app.

Setting up Facebook’s Messenger Room within the main app is super easy as shown in the instructional video.

So here the number of steps YOU would need to follow to set it all up-

1- Click on the ‘Video Icon’ on the top right corner of the Instagram DM section after opening your Instagram app.

2- Now tap on ‘Create a Room’ to proceed further.

Note- If you observe the tutorial video, you would notice a statement written ‘Send a link to video chat with anyone, even if they don’t have Instagram’ along ‘Create a Room’ option. This means users on Instagram would be able to video chat even with people who don’t have the app installed on their phone.

3- Instagram would then pop an option to continue with your linked Facebook account saying- Create Room as ‘YOUR FB NAME’. Click on it to proceed further!

4- Now select the number of contacts (up to 50) who you want to add to the room.

5- YOU would then notice the two options- ‘Join Room’ (with a statement that ‘you have to be in your room before others can join’, so first click on that), and ‘Send Link’ (to send link to all the users who you want to add). Join the room, and then tap on ‘Send Link’ to send the invitation to other users to join the room.

6- And… you are DONE!!!

The best part about this feature is that it would let Instagrammers invite even those who don’t have Facebook or Instagram installed on their phone.

However, the one who is creating the room must have their Facebook account linked on Instagram.

Although Instagram has rolled out this feature, it is currently not available worldwide (I know for UK and India, so there are chances you might not have it yet as well).

Nonetheless, Instagrammers would have it pretty soon as it’s been officially rolled out.

I seriously can’t wait!
